2. Front Gate and Blockhouse

The West facing gate. Note loopholes in palisade wall and blockhouse.

3. Looking toward the front gate

From the flagpole, looking at front gate and buildings F1 (by gate) and F2 behind.

4. Front Wall

Front gate with blockhouse, showing front ditch (7-10 ft wide & 3 -4 ft deep) and dirt piled 4 to 5 feet high on palisade wall.

5. View of the "Commander's Hut" -

In the foreground is building "c"-- identified as either the Officer's Mess or the Fort Commander's cabin. As the finest building, it has a wooden floor and all stone fireplace.

6. Barracks Building "A"

The long narow building in the background was probably a barracks. It is shown with inside fireplaces and wooden chimneys. Note half-dove notches on corners of log buildings.

7. Building J

This T shaped building was probably a barracks; It is actually two cabins with an attaching "breezeway"- a common practice of the time.

8. Inside Building J

This is the covered "breezeway" between the two cabins making up this "T" shaped building. Soldiers would have entered and exited this barracks building through thess protected doors.

9. Looking NW

From the SW bastion, the raised corner platforms can be seen in the foreground and in the NW bastion in the background. Building J is in the foreground.

10. Buildings F1 & F2

Looking south from the flagpole, we see F1 & F2 on the right and the end of Building J on the left, with their external fireplaces and wooden chimneys. F1 & F2 most likely housed Officers and NCO's.

11. Fireplaces and Chimneys

Note that some buildings have outside built fireplaces and some inside, but all utilize wooden chimneys.

12. Water Gate

Back (River) side of fort is shown without a river yet. Much adjustment on this side will take place after the actual terrain with the river is added.

13. From Front Platform

The "Lookout" posted on the elevated platform on the front wall is observing the front blockhouse and the center of the fort (Building F1 in the foreground), since there is nothing for him to see over the wall to the west yet!

14. Hospital & Outbuilding

When the sentry is looking over the west palisade wall, he's looking at the very large hospital building and another unidentified outbuilding.

15. SW Bastion & Bldg. G

Building G was probably the powder magazine; it has no windows and no fireplace(!)and only one door. Behind we see the elevated corner platform.

16. SW Bastion Platform

You can take up your firing position either up on the platform or under it.

17. SW Platform Top

Note the log and board textures at close-up ranges.

18. Building "B" & NW Bastion

Building "B" is only 8 feet wide and of unknown use; I built it without heat and with a flat shed roof (like the blockhouses) because it is the only logical roof style to use on a building so narrow.
